Akita on a pond

Description

Just another simple and roughly painted picture I did between work and commissions.
I wanted to do something different than just painting portraits. So, well, a beautiful rear can also endear, can't it?

FAQ:
Why's there that watermark/small size? It's ugly.
Yes, but the last thief is only two weeks ago and he wasn't the only one. ]:< Signature or selfmade smaller watermarks doesn't seem to be enough.
Is it called "Japanese Akita", "Akita Inu", "Akita Ken"...or just "Akita"?
Briefly, all three are right in their use, depending on where you live. (btw, "Inu" just means "dog" in Japanese.) Seriously, it's usually just "Akita" but people tend to say "Akita Inu" in order to prevent confusion.
Do you own an Akita yourself?
Yes, I do. I've got a lovely, female, red Akita.
I want one! Would you suggest people to get one themselves?
Honestly, no. I don't want that everyone who thinks they look "cute" get one without researching, searching for the right breeder and doing not more than going for a walk. Akitas aren't easy to train and I don't want to see any Akita in a dog pound because people were just too focused on their appearence and totally forgot about what they really are. I searched for a few years for the right breeder, met a lot of other owners, talked to them, researched their pedigrees and so on before I decided to get one myself and I am still in contact with my breeder, meet him (and his dogs) from time to time, write/phone everyday with him and Akita Club members and go to dog shows/special shows where we also talk about genetics, socialization, training etc. etc. etc. So, please, if you decided you want to own an Akita in the future, gather as much information as you can, visit different breeders, talk to many people who own Akitas and do your exercises!

I like this. I like the colors, it gives off a warm feeling. cozy. I love the detail of the fur on the dog. I like how everything pushes my eyes to the middle. The grass, the dog, the clouds, push my eyes the the center of the piece. I like the sparkles in the water, and also the calm small waves, or ripples in the water. i like the reflection of the clouds in the water on the right, but since the reflection is so big, does it mean the clouds are closer than they appear?

I don't see where all the light is coming from in the sky. I don't know how it would be that bright without a hint of a setting, or rising sun. The little dots in the bright part of the sky throws me off from the rest of the piece. Those dots try to redirect my eyes to them, instead of what the whole piece is pushing me to see.

All in all I love this piece. It makes me want to get a little paddle boat, so the dog and I can go see what's going on out there.
